Our Veterans

Honoring our Heroes:

Celebrating Veterans'

COURAGE AND SACRIFICE

At Summit Aviation, we stand united in our unwavering pride and deep admiration for the brave men and women who have served in the military. We understand and appreciate the sacrifices they have made to protect our freedoms and uphold our values.

Join us as we celebrate the contributions of some of our veteran employees.

Bruce Melendez

For 21 years and 7 months, Bruce Melendez served in the U.S. Army in various roles, including CH47 Mechanic, CH47 Flight Engineer, CH47 Technical Inspector, CH47 Test Pilot course Instructor, Squad Leader and Platoon Sergeant.

Bruce has been with Summit Aviation for five years, and is currently Flight Test Lead. He provides maintenance service on CH47F and MH47G, but if you ask him what he enjoys most about working here, he’ll tell you it’s the people he works with and Summit’s customers. His service to our country continues to be his life work as he contributes his knowledge as a civilian.

His experience in the military helped prepare him for his job at Summit. “I experienced an ease of transition into Summit’s processes and procedures. That has translated into a high customer satisfaction rate; customers are happy with the presented product,” said Bruce.

Nearly 50% of our shop floor workforce are veterans.

For the fifth year in a row, Summit received the Hire Vets Medallion, which honors companies that make a concerted effort to hire U.S. military veterans.

Attracting veterans makes sense as Summit works on a lot of Army and other military branch aircraft. It makes business sense, too. Learn more about the award here!

Jose Hilario

For five years, Jose Hilario proudly served the U.S. Marine Corps in various roles including Airframer on CH46E, Maintenance Control and QAR Inspector.

Today, Jose is our CH/MH-47 Shop Floor Supervisor. The bonds he formed with his fellow Marines taught him how to lead effectively as a civilian; he knows the value of motivating his team so they trust each other and work toward a common quality goal. The same mission, together.

At Summit Aviation, we consider it both a privilege and a responsibility to employ military veterans.

We recognize the unique qualities and strengths they bring to the table—qualities such as discipline, leadership, and a strong work ethic. The dedication and commitment they demonstrated during their service continue to inspire us, and we believe in creating a work environment that acknowledges and appreciates their valuable contributions. There is absolutely no doubt that we strongly benefit from their diverse perspectives and problem-solving abilities. We're truly honored to have these exceptional individuals as part of our team, as they enrich our organization and help us achieve new levels of excellence.

Ron Bergonia

For 10 years, he served in the U.S. Army as an aviation mechanic, serving multiple tours in Germany and providing mission support and training on Chinook helicopters wherever needed.

Today, Ron is our CH-47 Quality Inspector. He joined the Summit Team in 2002. Twenty-one years later, he loves that he’s still providing top level quality support. Whatever you need, Ron and his team will make sure it’s done right.

We Know What You Demand. We've Stood Where You Stand.

I'm proud that I'm able to continue fostering my love for aviation as a civilian in a way that is meaningful, and supports our military. I can put myself in their shoes and know exactly what they need and why they need it.
