Summit Aviation, a Greenwich AeroGroup Company, announced that it has promoted Dennis Hurst to the position of regional sales manager.

A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Mr. Hurst has 17 years of mechanical experience with 15 of those years dedicated to aviation. Mr. Hurst was initially introduced to Summit Aviation in 2011 as a contracted flight test mechanic for Strom Aviation. He officially transitioned from that role to the Summit team in 2013. In time, he moved up as Summit’s flight test team lead, and most recently, program lead.

As a regional sales manager, Mr. Hurst will support Summit’s airborne law enforcement and ISR customer base; state and federal agencies; King Air owners and operators and other general aviation aircraft.

Mr. Hurst earned his bachelor’s degree in Program Technical Management specializing in Project Management from DeVry University. He is currently pursuing a Program Management Professional certificate from the Project Management Institute.

Summit Aviation, a Greenwich AeroGroup Company, announced that it has hired Bradley Card for its newly created position of Director of Program Management.

A veteran of the United States Air Force, Mr. Card has 30 years of aviation experience, including 15 years as a flight engineer. Upon leaving the Air Force in 2008, he joined ALOFT AeroArchitects in Georgetown, Delaware, where he gradually moved up the ranks ending in his most recent position as ALOFT’s program manager. He joins Summit Aviation in mid-March.

“We are delighted to welcome Brad to our team,” said Ralph Kunz, vice president and general manager for Summit Aviation. “We are continuously focused on efficiency and customer satisfaction and in this newly created position, Brad will be a key addition in Summit achieving its goals.”

As the director of program management, Mr. Card will direct and oversee all of Summit’s various programs and will ensure the quality of all customer communication in regards to schedule and costs. The position will work collaboratively with Summit’s director of maintenance and director of sales.

Mr. Card is a PMP-Certified project manager and holds an Associate of Applied Science in Aviation Operations and Aviation Maintenance from the Community College of the Air Force. Additionally, he has a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management, a Master of Business Administration with a focus on Management Information Systems and a second Master of Business Administration with a focus on Management Organizational Leadership, all from Wilmington University in New Castle, Delaware.

Summit Aviation, a Greenwich AeroGroup Company, announced that it has included the Leonardo AW139 helicopter to its Part 145 Certified Repair Station certificate.

This newly added capability allows Summit to perform aircraft maintenance including inspections, overhaul, repair and/or modification for AW139 owners and operators.

“We have been serving similar types of aircraft owners and operators since 1960,” said Ralph Kunz, vice president and general manager of Summit Aviation. “Adding the AW139 aircraft to our certificate aligns with our capabilities and offers those owners and operators an experienced and established alternative provider.”

In addition to general and corporate aviation, Summit has a broad customer base including state and local law enforcement, the U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Government Non DoD and special mission and international militaries.

Summit Aviation, a Greenwich AeroGroup Company, announced that it is now partnered with New Jersey-based Cabin Crafters Inc. (CCI) to support fixed and rotor wing interior refurbishments.

Cabin Crafters has specialized in quality aircraft interiors for more than 35 years. As the first Federal Aviation Administration certified repair station specializing in aircraft interiors CCI is a pioneer and leader in the industry. The company’s 25,000 square foot facility is located in the tristate area adjacent to Teterboro Airport (TEB) in New Jersey.

“Cabin Crafters has robust capabilities and an excellent reputation for providing quality interior refurbishments and cabin reconfigurations,” said John Gonsalves, director of sales and marketing for Summit Aviation. “We believe our customer base will benefit substantially from its years of experience with both fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters.”

Cabin Crafters is a Part 145 repair station, as well as ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D certified. Interior services will be provided at CCI’s facility and on-site at Summit Aviation.

Summit Aviation, a Greenwich AeroGroup Company, announced that it has received the HIRE Vets Platinum Medallion Award from the U.S. Department of Labor for 2020 for its efforts to recruit, employ and retain the nation’s veterans.

This marks the second consecutive year Summit Aviation has received the prestigious award. The Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans (HIRE Vets) Award Medallion Program implements the requirements of the HIRE Vets Act of 2017 (Public Law 115-31), which President Donald J. Trump signed in May 2017. It is the only veteran hiring award given at the federal level and recognizes a company or organization’s commitment to veteran hiring, retention and professional development.

“Our veteran employees exemplify unique leadership, technical expertise and problem-solving abilities – those are highly valued skillsets in any workplace – particularly ours,” said Ralph Kunz, vice president and general manager for Summit Aviation. “We’re humbled to not only work alongside our veterans each day but also to receive positive recognition for the supportive culture of our environment.”

Summit Aviation currently employs 75 veterans of the United States Armed Forces.

 

Summit Aviation, a Greenwich AeroGroup Company, announced that it has received the Garmin Bronze Dealer Award for 2019, which recognizes the top aviation dealers in the Garmin network.

“The Bronze Dealer Award represents a level of sales performance, technical expertise, and customer service that distinguishes your business among other Garmin Aviation Dealers,” said Jim Alpiser, Garmin director of aviation aftermarket sales, in an award notification letter to Summit Aviation.

The award is presented to less than one-third of Garmin’s avionics distributors worldwide.

Summit Aviation, a Greenwich AeroGroup company, announced that it has been awarded the Supplemental Type Certificate for the installation of Garmin’s G500H TXi Flight Display System on MDHI 500N series aircraft.

The latest in electronic glass cockpit instrumentation, the G500H TXi brings increased levels of reliability, adaptability and affordability to helicopter operations. Available in both portrait and landscape options, the system provides bright, crisp touch-screen displays. It allows you to use familiar knobs and/or touch-screen inputs to quickly access the functions, screen views and other flight information the pilot wants to see most prominently.

Summit recently installed the G500H TXi display system on two of Maryland’s Prince George’s County Police Department’s MD 520N Helicopters.

For mission readiness, the G500H TXi is equipped with a five-color Helicopter Terrain Awareness and Warning System1 (HTAWS), WireAware wire-strike avoidance technology and Garmin HSVT 3-D synthetic vision. The G500H TXi also features multiple video input options, night vision goggle (NVG) compatibility and a graphical map overlay within the horizontal situation indicator (HSI) for most display formats.

In 1960, Dwight D. Eisenhower was President of the United States, Johnny Cash played the first of his many free concerts behind bars, and on this day, May 6, 1960, Summit Aviation, the oldest, continuous operating aircraft company in the state of Delaware was founded by Richard “Kip” Dupont.

In the sixty years since its founding, Summit Aviation has evolved into a full-service aviation center serving both domestic and international customers including the U.S. Government Department of Defense and International Military, U.S. Government Non-Department of Defense and Special Missions, general and corporate aviation, and state and local law enforcement. It was acquired by Greenwich AeroGroup in 2008.

Summit Aviation, a Greenwich AeroGroup company, announced that it has hired John Gonsalves as its Director of Sales and Marketing.

His responsibilities will include developing new business relationships, strengthening existing relationships and overseeing the growth of the company’s fixed-wing, rotor-wing and government/military services for the company’s Delaware location.

Mr. Gonsalves is a seasoned sales executive who has served the last 28 years in various sales positions within Bombardier Aerospace. He most recently served as Bombardier’s Director of Aircraft Sales for Government Programs covering the United States, Mexico and Central and South Americas.

“We are delighted to welcome John to Summit Aviation,” said Vice President and General Manager of Summit Aviation Ralph Kunz. “John has a keen understanding of aircraft service sales, and I believe his extensive experience in the aviation industry will help further elevate Summit’s presence in the sectors we serve.”

Mr. Gonsalves began his sales career with Bombardier as a Regional Manager covering corporate and commercial service sales. Within two years he was promoted to the Director of Worldwide Service Sales staying in that position for ten years until his final position with the company. His sales experience is extensive, covering corporate, commercial, special mission, government and military programs both domestically and internationally.

He undertakes his duties with Summit Aviation immediately.
